Home Buyer Information and Resources

President Barack Obama signed H.R. 1, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 into law Feb. 17, 2009. The bill is a $780 billion package designed to stimulate the economy and to revive the housing industry. The House Ways and Means Committee has posted a Full Summary of the provisions included in this bill. Also, The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) has provided a resource for consumers to assist with Frequently Asked Questions, Tax Credit at a Glance, The Law’s Other Provisions, and Home Buyer Resources. This tax credit can be used in conjunction with an Ohio Housing Finance Authority (OHFA) loan with or with out assistance. Or, the Mortgage Credit Certificate (MCC), which provides a 20%-30% tax credit based upon the amount of interest paid on the loan during the year, per Market Mortgage.
